Taking The Plunge
So I signed up for a half marathon and it’s taking place on Sunday, March 3rd.
E. Todd Murray Half Marathon in Lincroft, NJ
It’s no secret that my motivation has been totally lacking. Thinking about getting up and putting on my running gear for a race makes me want to pull the covers over my head. My less than stellar time at the Disney Half has not helped with my lack of enthusiasm and neither has this cold and snowy winter.
Nothing seems to be helping my lack of motivation. I’ve tried to get excited for long runs, bought new running gear and even tried taking a few days off. Nothing helped so I’m trying a race.
The E. Todd Murray Half Marathon is a local, low-key race down by the Jersey Shore. Early March is a toss-up weather wise in NJ but it’s looking to be a sunny, 40 degree day this weekend. If it was forecasted to be snowing or cold, I wouldn’t have signed up for this race. The half marathon is one big loop taking the runner through horse country.
The course is hilly but I’m ok with that. I have to get ready for the hills of Central Park and the NYC Half is in less than 3 weeks.

So I’m taking the plunge and running this half marathon. I’m not going to taper this week, I’m just going to work out like normal. I have no time hopes for this race and will probably just run Garmin-less but I am hoping that it will lift my running spirit.
