3 Weeks To NYC Marathon

11 more days till NYC Marathon…just 11 more days.  11 days is nothing.  11 days ago I was dancing the night away at a friend’s wedding and gearing up for the Shades of Death Half Marathon.  11 days ago feels like yesterday.  And in just 11 days I will be waiting around in the green village at the base of the Verrazano Bridge.  11 more days…11

I'M IN. TO FINISH

This past week of training was my peak week.  I had a 20 miler on the schedule and hit my highest total weekly mileage in this training cycle.   I’m glad peak week is over and now the tapering can commence.  I’ve never really been a good taperer so I’ll probably just taper for the week of the marathon.

3 Weeks to NYC Marathon Training Plan

M- x-training

T – 4 miles easy @ 11:30 pace

W – x-training or rest

Th – Tempo Run (6 miles @9:30 pace)

F – 4 miles easy @ 11:30 pace

Sa – x-training or rest

Sun – 20 mile long run @ 11:26 pace

My 3 Weeks to NYC Marathon Actual Training

M – 6 mile stroller walk, recovery from Shades of Death Half

T- 3.5 miles easy with stroller @ 10:45 pace

W – 7.5 miles with stroller @ 10:30 pace

Th – 4 miles with stroller @ 10:50 pace

F – Rest

Sa – 20 Miles @ 10:24 pace (including North Jersey Half and 7 extra miles)

Sun – 4 mile stroller walk/rest

I feel much more confident going into the marathon now that I have the 20 miler under my belt.  I ran it over a minute faster per mile than my training plan recommended but I doubt I can keep that pace up during the marathon.  This week is a bit of a step back with my mileage total back in the 20′s.  I am also running my favorite 15k on Sunday…The Great Swamp Devil Run in Basking Ridge, NJ.

How was your last week of training?

Great week of getting the miles done. Can’t believe the NYC Marathon is a week and a half away. I’m doing the Great Devil Swamp Run, too. Hope the weather holds up.
