Postpartum Update: 6 Months
Happy 6 Month Birthday to my favorite little boy!
Little man is now closer to his 1st birthday than the day he was born (insert wow). This past month has been a big one in his development. He is now a speedy crawler and as of two weeks ago, he sits up all by himself.
Being able to sit has definitely improved my life as well. I love being able to put him in the grocery cart and he is having tons of fun on the baby swings. L is a huge fan of all toys, especially cars. If a car is amongst the toys spread out on the floor for him, it’s the thing he immediately heads for.
Stranger anxiety is starting to set in but the only person he is afraid of is my father. Don’t worry, Grandpa isn’t taking it too personally. I’m sure he’ll remind Mr. L of this a couple of years down the line when Grandpa is one of his favorite people. He is also getting a bit scared when I leave the room and all I can hear is “Mmmmamma” (his version of mama). If you ask L “where is daddy?” he will look around the room until he spots him then smiles.
L is still Mr. Smiley all the time and I guess that is just his little personality. The only things that can bring a frown are being hungry and tired. Speaking of hunger, L is quite the eater. We are up to 8 ounce bottles every 4 hours and he eats two meals a day. I have a feeling the doctor is going to up that to 3 a day since Mr. L is still waking up at night to eat. He is one hungry boy! So far his favorite food is applesauce but pastina with carrots is getting to be a close second. He also has 2 teeth!
L’s loves at 6 months: BOB runs, stroller rides (we went into NYC for the day and he sat in the stroller, happily, for 6 hours!), being outside, playing, banging toys on the hardwood floor, jumping, books and bath time.
L’s dislikes at 6 months: Car rides, the car seat and diaper changes.
As for me, I’ve lost a dress size in the past month but only 2 pounds. My stomach is noticeably flatter and I feel just smaller in general. I am now down to the pre-Lucas weight but still have 12 lbs to go before I’m back to pre-miscarriage weight. Sometimes I get frustrated but I have to remind myself that I was pregnant from March 2011 to April 2012 with only 2 months off. That’s a lot for my body to have gone through in such a short time!
Here we are at the Spooky Sprint 5k!
Running is going well and the NYC Marathon is in just 12 days. L and I have run 2 5k’s together and I’ve now run over 500 miles since giving birth. Even though I am not as fast (yet) as I used to be, I am amazed at how far I’ve come in just 6 months.
Can’t want to see what month 7 brings…
