A Double-Digit Run
Today’s Workout: 10 mile run, outside without the stroller
I was debating on a Saturday or a Sunday long run this morning while waiting for Lucas to wake up. Yup, I woke up before him and that’s not something I’m proud of. He decided to stay up till 9pm last night but snoozed in till 7am. A good thing if my body wasn’t used to a 5:30am wakeup call. Anyway, I felt good this morning so I decided to go for a 10 miler.
My initial plan was to take L in the stroller for the first 5 miles then swing back home to drop him off and go out for 5 more. But, the stars aligned and my hubby offered to take him on his morning walk while I did the whole 10 without the stroller.
I took off from our driveway around 8am in some super hazy, hot and humid July Jersey weather. It felt like I could cut the air. Not the best long run weather but I have to take anything I can get. I ran the first 5.5, then swung by home for a drink of water and some GU chomps.
Thanks Kelley for my GU Chomps!! I have never had them and I loved the watermelon flavor. I am definitely buying some more of these.
I set out for the next 4.5 miles with a little more pep in my step. I finished in 1:47:26 for a minute mile pace of 10:45.
I’m definitely not as fast as I used to be but this was my 1st 10 mile run in exactly a year. I checked Daily Mile and I ran 10 miles this Saturday a year ago. How funny is that?!?
I was soaked with sweat when I got home but felt great. A couple of Fall halves and the NYC Marathon that I have on my schedule don’t seem so impossible now.
Next week…11 Miles
Did you have a long run this weekend?July 28, 2012
