Trying To Be One Of The Cool Kids
Today’s Workout: 3 mile run/4 mile stroller walk
Last month I posted about how I needed to find a play/moms group in the area. I had emailed a moms group in my town and today was the 1st meeting that I attended. The organization supports stay at home moms and is also a service group. I loved it and can’t wait to be part of this wonderful group of moms.
Since moving out of NYC, being laid off, being pregnant and now being a stay at home mom, I feel like I’ve totally fallen behind on the latest fashions. My daily wardrobe consists of leggings, workout clothes and maybe a dress (all covered in spit up of course).
I could look like these SAHM from NJ but then I would scare myself AND my husband. Photo Source
When I was working it was so easy to know and jump on the bandwagon of the latest NYC looks. Last year it was all about the TOMS and I bought a couple of pairs. I have the Tory Burch flats that were all the rage a couple of years back, I adored DVF dresses and you better believe that I carried a sweet handbag to work.
When my younger sister came home (from NYC) for her birthday a week ago, she told me that everyone was wearing Sperry Top-Siders. What???!?? I didn’t know that this trend was happening. I felt so deflated and out of touch.
Well, not really…I’m just being dramatic. She said I must get a pair so get a pair I did.
I found them on sale at Nordstrom.com. Almost 50% off, go me!!!
Now I’m feeling a little less out of touch and a bit more trendy. Hope they will look good with my leggings and spit-up!
Those top-siders are just the beginning of me getting back to looking good and fashionable. The husband is taking me into NYC for a show and dinner in a couple of weeks and I’m on the quest for a cute dress.
Where is your favorite place to shop? What trend am I totally missing out on?

One of my hipster co-workers has a pair of Sperrys, and I think they are super cute. Seeing as I just now hopped on the Toms bandwagon, I’ll have to live the Midwest stereotype and wait a couple years before getting the Sperrys. Most days my goal is to go to work without snot on my pants so hopefully by the time I catch up, Miles can wipe his own nose!
Oh good god, I need a fashion intervention big time! I feel so out of it fashion wise and feel I don’t look good in anything that is trendy…the only time I feel cute is when I’m wearing my lulu workout wear!
