Realizing My New Limitations
Yesterday’s Workout: 2 mile run & 3 mile walk
I had an appointment in Manhattan yesterday morning so I was able to commute with my husband. It was like old times and I really missed that time we had together in the car and on the train.
After my appointment, I walked around for a while then headed back home on the train. I walked thru the door at 1:30pm and immediately hit the couch. I was exhausted. I commuted for years and didn’t realize how much energy it takes out of you. The exhaustion also got me thinking about my new limitations.
I’ve come to terms with the fact that I need at least 9 hours of sleep at night.
I’ve realized that I can’t be on my feet all day. If I am, then the next day is a waste and I end up on the couch for all of it.
I can’t forget about eating a meal. I used to do that all the time.
I now can’t eat protein at dinner because of heartburn. Husband and I have gone veggie at night.
Eat Live Run’s Tortellini and Heirloom Bean Soup – a new hit in our house
Even if I plan to run on a particular day, my body doesn’t always let me.
Some days I step on the scale and want to cry.
I now bump into things, can’t fit in places I used too and feel off-balance all the time.
and I’ve realized that Eleni’s has the best cupcakes in NYC!
What new limitations has/have pregnancy brought to you?

ps. dont step on the scale
It saved my sanity!
ugh – yes – I can totally relate! It seems that even some ‘normal’ household tasks (shopping, cleaning etc) leaves me EXHAUSTED!!!
Listening to your bodies ladies! You are amzing! this is hard! remember you have a whole other person in you!!! Don’t worry about the weight, your baby wants you to gain weight HAH! what movie? anyway, marathon 2012 will help with that
Almost all of them! I was prepared for the not working out as hard/as much, but really wasn’t expecting not to be able to do a full day of normal activity!
That cupcake looks delicious
I agree with most of these (I’ve been lucky enough to escape heartburn). I cannot get over how much sleep and time off my feet I’ve needed all pregnancy. I don’t know how women with active jobs do it!
